M.Indigo is one of the oldest dyes used for textiles and printing, with many countries having used the Indigofera plant and its brilliant blue color for centuries. 

Shibori is an ancient Japanese natural dye technique that uses binding, stitching, folding, twisting, and compressing cloth to create beautiful blue patterns.

In this workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of the ancient practice of indigo dyeing, along with the historic pattern-making process known as shibori.  All experience levels are welcome. 

The instructor had trained in Japan with  six-generation in Indigo Shibori and . 

A cotton scarf or two bandanas will be provided for us to dye and practice the Shibori techniques.

If you are going to use your fabrics we recommend using cotton, linen, and rayon. Pre-wash and boil the fabrics in hot water with mild soap for 30 minutes before the workshop to remove any wax, stain, or starch.

Needed Materials

• Rubber gloves (long ones like the ones used for dishwashing).
• Apron/smock or wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.
• A seam-picker or a small pair of sharp scissors.                                                                                                                                                                                          A $25 fee will be charged for all class refunds due to a withdrawal. Refunds will be given up to seven (7) days prior to the class start date. Thereafter, no refunds will be given, unless we cancel the class.

Indigo es uno de los tintes más antiguos utilizados para teñir textiles, y muchos países han utilizado la planta de la indigofera y su brillante color azul durante siglos.

Shibori es una antigua técnica japonesa de tinte natural que utiliza la costura, el plegado, la torsión y la compresión para crear hermosos diseños azules.

En este taller, los estudiantes aprenderán los fundamentos de la antigua práctica del teñido con índigo, junto con el proceso histórico de creación de patrones conocido como shibori. Todos los niveles de experiencia son bienvenidos.

La instructora se ha entrenado en las practicas del indigo shibori en Japon, con de seis generaciones en Indigo Shibori y .

Se proporcionará una chalina de algodón para teñir y practicar las tecnicas del Shibori.

Los participantes pueden usar sus propios productos  para teñir como pañuelos.

Algodón, lino, rayón son los textiles que mejor aceptan el indigo. Lave y hierva sus telas en agua caliente durante 30 minutos antes del taller para eliminar cualquier cera, mancha o almidón.

Necesitaran:

• Guantes de goma (de los largos para lavar platos).
• Delantal o ropa vieja y, zapatos que se puedan manchar o ensuciar con el indigo.
• Tijeras.

Se cobrará una tarifa de $ 25 por cancelacion hasta siete (7) días antes de la fecha de inicio de la clase. Posteriormente, no se realizarán reembolsos, a menos que la clase sea cancelada por el instructor.
